Why do we need CVBS in the HD era?

In the current high-definition era, although high-definition and even ultra-high definition video technology has made significant development, CVBS SD signals are still applied in some industries, mainly due to the following factors:

1. Compatibility:
Many older devices or systems still support CVBS interfaces, and in order to maintain compatibility with these devices, some industries have to continue to use CVBS signals.

2, meet the requirements:
In some basic video surveillance scenarios that do not require high video quality, such as the monitoring of some non-critical areas, CVBS signals have been able to meet basic requirements.

3, specific environment:

In some specific environments, such as areas with strong electromagnetic interference or long-distance transmission, high-definition signals may face the problem of reduced transmission quality. CVBS signals may exhibit better stability and reliability in these environments due to their analog characteristics.

4, technology transition: With the continuous development of technology, some industries are in the stage of transition from standard definition to HD and even ultra-high definition. In this process, CVBS signals are still used as a solution for the transition phase.

 

Materials required

SONY FCB-EV7520 HD integrated movement module supports both full HD signal output and CVBS SD signal output.

1. SONY FCB-EV7520
2. 24Pin wiring
3, 9Pin wire
4, transfer board (24Pin to 9Pin)
5, standard definition control board
6, RS232 serial port and related wire
7. BNC video coaxial line
8, power adapter or adjustable voltage power supply and related wire

Hardware connection

First, connect one end of the 24-pin cable to the CVBS output interface of the SONY FCB-EV7520, and connect the other end to the switch board.

Then, use one end of the 9Pin line to connect the adapter board, so that the 24Pin signal can be converted to 9Pin to facilitate the connection of the SD control board;

The third step is to connect the standard definition control board and display device respectively with the BNC video coaxial line.

Finally, connect the RS232 serial port and power supply, and then check whether the above steps are connected in place, which can be confirmed by the image display and whether the serial port can control the camera.

 

Software setup

1, through the serial debugging software, send relevant commands, you can modify SONY FCB-EV7520 to CVBS SD analog signal;

2, the SONY FCB-EV7520 video signal set to “PAL standard definition analog signal” method: Send “81 01 04 24 72 00 05 FF” in the command window of serial debugging software, when the feedback command “90 41 FF 90 51 FF”, it indicates that SONY FCB-EV7520 HD movement has received our instructions, and then power off and restart the movement, it can take effect;

3, check whether the “PAL SD analog signal” is set successfully: send “81 09 04 24 72 FF” in the command window, if the feedback instruction is “90 50 00 05 FF”, the “05” in the feedback instruction refers to the “PAL SD analog signal”, indicating that it has been set successfully;

4, “NTSC standard definition analog signal” setting method is the same, as for the use of specific instructions can consult SONY FCB-EV7520 technical protocol parameter manual.
